The Red Bush Brown, Mycalesis oroatis ustulata (Distant)

This tiny little butterfly is fairly common in certain wooded localities and can be easily identified by its reddish brown uppersides visible when in flight in comparison to its duller cousins. Unlike the other Mycalesis that have pale or whitish post-discal stripes, this species has a purplish wash-out toned stripe instead. This is decidedly a hill insect.

Above 3 photos from 09 June 2013 @ 15:59. Two males were seen engaged in aerial "dog fight" in the deep shades and one finally left the spot after about half an hour of relentless chase around the dark shades under a huge tree by the stream.
