The Grass Demon, Udaspes folus (Cramer)

This butterfly is usually encountered in the earlier part of a sunny morning visiting flowers in gardens and secondary growth. As with many species dependant on the fringe vegetation that many disturbed environment used to offer (around villages and public parks), it too suffered in numbers with the wide use of pesticides and herbicides to control roadside weeds and park lawns.
