Locally common where it occurs. Lowland forest with thickets of rattan and palms.

Observe how the insides of the wings shine with the effects from a flash of light...

This is not a common butterfly and inhabits the dark undergrowths in primary forests. These photos were taken on 3 March 2013 @ 3:10 pm. It is an unusual satyrid because the insides of its wings are unusually suffused with a brilliant blue-purple that resembles that of the Dark Blue Jungle Glory, albeit a tinier version.
