The Common Brownwing, Miletus chinensis learchus (C. & R. Felder)

Tiny inconspicuous brown butterfly that inhabits secondary growths in urbanized area in Raub. Recognisable in flight by its usual flitting movement and a decidedly ochre-brown uppers with a faint lighter apical band, especially in the females. Uncommon and highly localized.

Above photo of a female from 18 Dec 2014 @ 15:43. Its range has extended South since the publication of C&P in 1992 which indicated that this is a continental species occurring only North of Penang in the Peninsular.


Above photos of another female from 08 June 2015 @ 18:05. It was seen hovering a low Chromolaena bush and settled on the plant where it was collected @ 17:30.
