Thaumantis odana pishuna (Fruhstorfer)

Inhabits lowland pristine forests and is attracted to rotting fruits on the forest floor. Unlike T. kugius, the male only has an oblique blue apical stripe on the uppersides of its FW. Rare.

Females are larger and more quadrate wings.Eventhough basically a lowland forest insect, females have been recorded from submontane zone at 1200M. Above picture of a female attracted to rotten figs on the jungle floor. 19 Feb 2018 @ 12:50.

The Palm King, Amathusia phidippus phiddipus (Linnaeus)

Common in disturbed environment where palm trees are common, feeding on coconut palms. Rather crepuscular habits and they sometimes enter houses at dusk, attracted by houselight.

The Great Saturn, Zeuxidia aurelius aurelius (Cramer)

Rare and solitary, confined to deep forest in the lowlands. It is an unmistakable butterfly which figures among the largest Malayan butterflies. The underside ressembles a white-washed A. phidippus.
