The Malay Punchinello, Zemeros emesoides emesoides (C. & R. Felder)

In flight and afar, it looks like an orange version of the Z. flegyas (Punchinello) and can be found in the same localities. They all have the same habits of settling with wings half-opened and often restless, making them a difficult subject to photograph.

The Punchinello, Zemeros flegyas albipunctatus (Butler)

This tiny butterfly is common along the trails as well as well wooded roadsides in Fraser's Hills, often seen settling on a sun-speckled leaf in the afternoon. It has a characteristic half-opened wing position when resting. They are also seen from time to time on forested paths at mid-elevation and the forest's edge, preferring the sun-lit under storeys.
