Though its name indicate "common", it is not a very common insect at the edge of the forest. This specimen was spotted among a thicket by the riverside when I was actually tracking a Leaf Butterfly back in May this year...Both photos of a female taken on 12 May 2013 @ 15:31

The Malay Red Harlequin, Paralaxita damajanti damajanti (C. & R. Felder)

Undoubtedly one of the most beautiful butterfly of the undergrowth, the carmine undersides have rich metallic blue with black edge markings giving its a bejewelled appearance. The uppersides are simple and unmarked. This tiny little butterfly inhabits the deep shades of elevated primary forests.
