This fabulous male specimen just swooped down and settled on a moist spot right in front of me on a warm sunny mid-morning...my first observation of the species to date. 03 August 2013 @ 10:59.

A pristine male form decorata from a forest stream: 25 May 2014 @ 12:20. Notice that forms from different localities may exhibit variation in the markings on the wings.

 An empty pupa case of an eclosed E. monina found under an old leaf of a species of wild Syzygium.

 The plant is occasionally found at the edge of forests and has thick leaves with velvety undersides.

A female E. monina was seen visiting the tree repeatedly trying to oviposit but finally flew off without doing so. 11 May 2019 @ 13:54

Though it was said to be one of the commonest Euthalia from the aconthea-group, it was not observed in moist spots and places where the genus are found till now (August 2013). A seasonal species perhaps? This lone specimen was found on a moist sand bank in the same locality where at least two other Euthalias and Tanaecia were observed on the same hour, of which none of them were observed prior to this...03 August 2013 @ 10:57.
