The Baron, Euthalia malaccana malaccana (Fruhstorfer)

This butterfly belongs to a group of Nymphalids known as "Barons" that have a range of subtle differences in their wing markings. Those with green colouring and red spotting are grouped into the lubentina group (C&P). This butterfly is essentially a forest butterfly and flies very swiftly once disturbed. It can sometimes be observed on a moist spot in a forested path but I have observed it in fruit orchards in villages in Raub.
