Above two photos are of a male specimen. Almost an hour later, a female specimen appeared near the same spot at 14:17. If one did not go through proper identification with a guide, it would be easy to mistaken the female as a different species because the colour scheme is totally different from the male on the undersides: instead of a rich chocolate brown against opaque white, the female has orange undersides with a suffused white wing base and white hairstreaks instead of black in the males (compare to the pictures below). The only ressemblance is the narrow oblique black bar on its hindwings.
This uncommon tiny butterfly was found in the shades of a sun-speckled undergrowth on 06 June 2013 @ 13:27.
